Phumani Paper’s Executive Director, Frikkie Meintjes, attended the New York International Gift Fair
His attendance of the Aid to Artisans’ Market Readiness Programme (MRP), which was presented to co-oincide with the NYIGF, was kindly funded by the Unesco Artists in Development programme, funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Unesco-funded programme sought to increase Phumani Paper’s capacity to respond to customer needs, new and innovative product development and design interventions, and exploring local and export opportunities. This two year-funded programme will conclude towards mid 2007. Aid to Artisans, an international not-for-profit organisation, offers practical assistance to artisan groups world-wide, working in partnerships to foster artistic traditions, cultural vitality, improved livelihoods and community well-being.
